Taylor Zoller and Jon Weiss had five birdies in their final round to win by one over Hayden Garret and Blake Kennedy in the older boys action of the Tradition Four Ball. A birdie on the last sealed the deal as the team got to nine under par. Collins Bradshaw canned a quick 20 foot birdie putt on the 18th to put the team at seven under par for the Girls championship. Bradshaw played with US Junior runner up; Katelyn Dambaugh, and they fired 4 under par on the back nine to win by one over Elizabeth Thompson and Chelsey Couch. The overall girls chase was close as third place was only one shot back of Thompson and Couch.
Starting the day three shots back, Trace Crowe and Adam Garrett coupled for five birdies to shoot a weekend low score of 67. They passed the leaders and won the boys 13-14 bracket by one shot over Winn Taylor and Jimmy Self. The nine hole division has Anne Taylor Hough and Savannah Goodman (girls age 13 and under) as champions after they finished the event with a 77 total for the two days. They competed against boys (age 12 and under) as well playing the same set of tee markers. Their margin of victory was an impressive four shots over the boys groups.
The Tradition Four Ball dates back to 1995 and players such as Lucas Glover, Bill Haas, DJ Trahan, and Kyle Thompson have all been part of this must play championship. Glover actually won the inaugural event with Jeremy Revis as a partner. Tournament Chair, Rick Vieth, has built a great event over the past 16 years thanks to the many volunteers and the membership of Pebble Creek. Bill Knupp and his company BB&T Barnes Insurance is back again as the title sponsor and the event would not be a success without their vital involvement. They have been one of the SCJGA’s longest running sponsors, many thanks go out to the entire organization.
