“I got off to a pretty slow start today,” said Carpenter. “But I got it rolling on my last six holes. I was six-under and had two eagles and everything just kind of felt right. I’m just going to get some sleep and try and do the same thing again tomorrow.”

Luke Walmet of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, finished the day at three-under par 68 to sit in solo second. Overall, he is five-under par 137 for the tournament.

Elizabeth Rudisill of Charlotte, North Carolina, continues to lead the girls division, carding two-under par 70 for round two. Overall, she is five-under par 139 for the tournament and holds a two-shot lead heading into the final round.

“I had a lot of putts drop on the front today,” said Rudisill. “I was hitting the ball straight and then things kind of went awry on the back-nine, but I was able to pull it together with a birdie on 16 which helped. I just need to be more consistent with my driver tomorrow, but I think i’m ready for the final round as long as I just continue to drop putts.”
