This morning, Thornblade Club welcomed 133 junior golfers for the first round of the 24th Annual Blade Junior Classic.
I
n the boys 10-12 division, Will McCraw of Inman fired four birdies and an eagle, finishing the day at two-under par 69 to be crowned champion of this division.
“I started off a little rough today,” said McCraw. “But my dad told me to keep my mind in the game, it’ll eventually come. It feels really good to be the champion. The nerves on the last putt kicked in, but after that, it was a sigh of relief.”
Connor Wolfe of Blythewood carded one-under par 70 to be named runner-up in the boys 10-12 division.
Kinley Brazell of Blythewood took home the girls 10-12 division title, posting a score of 10-over par 81.
“My putting was really good today,” said Brazell. “I was hitting nice strides down the fairway and my mental game has gotten a lot better. This is a big win for me and it feels great.”
AC Peake of Pauline finished the day at 17-over par 88 to claim runner-up in this division.
Gage Gaskins of Leesville and Seamus Bogan of Clover each posted a first-round score of two-under par 69 to co-lead the boys 13-18 division.
Grant Paolucci of Blythewood and Andrew Gregory of Inman sit T3, each finished the first round at one-under par 70.
In the girls 13-18 division, Anne Fernandez of Bluffton posted a first-round score of even-par 71 to take the lead in this division.
Abby Franks of Roebuck currently holds the second-place position, finishing the day at six-over par 77.
Round two of the 24th Annual Blade Junior Classic begins tomorrow at 8:00 A.M. off #1.

In 1999, The Blade Junior Golf Classic was founded by a group of Thornblade Club members with a passion for creating the best junior golf tournament experience for junior golfers and their families. After 20 plus years, a dedicated board of directors and a team of generous sponsors, The Blade has developed into one of the most premiere tournaments in junior golf. Since its inception, The Blade has sought to provide support for local charities, having donated nearly $1.5 million to charities in South Carolina.
Through a continued effort to support junior golf, The Blade began supporting the Dick and Lucille Hendley Scholarship Fund in 2021. Through partnering with the Hendley family, one male and female Blade participant who exemplifies great character, a passion for community service and a desire to excel in the classroom will be eligible to receive scholarship assistance.
