Andrew Gregory of Inman posted a final round score of two-under par 70 to claim the 26th Annual Players Championship title in the boys 13-18 division. Overall, he finished the tournament at five-under par 139, taking home his fourth SCJGA title in 2022.
“I was up and down today,” said Gregory. “I played the front nine pretty good and made a lot of pars. I hit a few bad drives on the back nine but was able to birdie the par fives, so overall it ended up being a pretty good round. This is an awesome feeling, I’ve been playing pretty good and this win feels great.”
Charles Cauthen of Columbia and Gage Howard of Woodruff each finished the tournament at one-under par 143 overall to tie for runner-up.
Bridget Wilkie of Bluffton was crowned champion of the girls 13-18 division, finishing the tournament with an overall score of four-under par 140. She had four birdies today and posted a final round score of one-under par 71 to claim the title by an impressive eight-shots.
“Things were a little bit up and down today,” said Wilkie. “I started with a birdie and followed it with a bogey, which is kind of how my round went today. It feels great to be the champion. I’ve played in this event for the last three years and finished in the top five, so it feels great to get the win this year.”
Olivia Roberts of Chesnee and Claire Green of Okatie each carded four-over par 148 overall for the tournament to tie for runner-up in the girls division.
