Pawleys Island, S.C. – As new policies and procedures were put into place to conduct a safe and healthy competitive environment – one hundred and twenty of the most decorated and accomplished junior golfers from South Carolina teed it up as the first round of the SCGA Junior Championship Presented by the Heritage Classic Foundation got underway at the Tradition Golf Club. Ready to get a competitive round under their belts, it wouldn’t take long for players to reach red numbers while flooding the leaderboard with birdies and under-par rounds.

Coming off a win at the Jimmy Anderson Boy’s Junior Invitational, Adam Hunt (Columbia) and Trey Crenshaw (Lancaster) take an early lead into the second round, carding a -5 under par 67. Hunt would card 6 birdies and 1 bogey in his opening round, while Crenshaw would post a bogey free round, with 4 birdies on the front and 1 birdie on his back nine. Defending champion Austin Scott (Daniel Island) sits just two-shots behind, posting an opening round 3-under par, 69. Scott would make a run on the back nine to climb within two shots, playing his last 4 holes at 4-under par. Joining Scott in a tie for third place is Conway’s Connor Thomas , Greenville’s Walker Jennings and North Augusta’s Evan Prickett.

A continued partnership with the South Carolina Golf Association, The Heritage Classic Foundation will again be the presenting sponsor of the Junior Championship, showcasing the best players across the state. A 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Heritage Classic Foundation is dedicated to supporting educational and charitable initiatives to enhance quality of life and economic vitality by hosting the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing, South Carolina’s only PGA TOUR golf tournament.
