Greenville, SC— The Morgan Lucas Championship Presented by Marchant Real Estate is set to take place on February 22-23 at Greenville Country Club’s Chanticleer Course with an exemplary field that includes both defending champions from 2019, Mary Kathryn Talledo (Spartanburg) and Zach Adams (Charleston). In the 84-player field, 20 players are currently ranked in the top-25 in the Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings.
Talledo, who used her victory at last year’s Championship to begin her run of exceptional play all year long, and eventually earned the Beth Daniel Player of the Year honor as South Carolina’s top female junior golfer in 2019. Other notables to keep on eye on in the Girls division are 2019 Caddie Classic Champion Kennedy Gooding (Lexington), Sydney Roberts (Chesnee), and Abby Franks (Roebuck).
As Zach Adams begins his title defense, he will be met by a host of great players in the Boys division, including his future Can-Am Team Matches teammates Daniel Brasington (Woodruff), Adam Hunt (Columbia), and local favorite Rafe Reynolds (Greenville). Hoping to use his home-course advantage, top-ranked player in the Class of 2025, Tip Price (Greenville) will compete against 2019 SCJGA Major Champions Mason Tucker (Lancaster), and Luke Sullivan (Columbia) as he looks to make a run at the title.
Greenville Country Club’s Chanticleer Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in Upstate. The 6,900 yard, par-72 layout is known to be an exemplary challenge, with some of the toughest greens in the state. GCC’s Chanticleer Course is the annual host of the Chanticleer Four-Ball and Senior Four-Ball Invitational, in addition to hosting the SCGA Amateur Championship many times, most recently in 2015.
