Greenville, S.C. – The heatwave continued as the final round of The Blade Junior Classic kicked off at Green Valley Country Club. Players began the round with clear skies and beaming sunshine, but once the afternoon groups hit the links – dark clouds, thunder and lighting would fill the sky.

The 21st Blade Junior Classic would be shortened to an 18-hole event due to multiple weather delays. The girls division champion’s title was awarded to first round leader Abigail Schimpf of Daniel Island after she fired a opening round -4 under 68 to capture the win by one shot. A scorecard playoff would decide the runner-up and third place positions. Using the United States Golf Association (USGA) method for breaking ties by the back-nine score, Alexia Siehl (Fort Mill) claimed the runner-up spot and Molly Hardwick (Lexington) secured a 3rd place finish.

With a tie at the top after the opening round, the boys division champion would wait until the skies cleared just enough to have a one-hole playoff. Mason Tucker (Lancaster) and Daniel Coker (Hartsville) took off to the 18th hole where a champion would ultimately be decided. Both missed the green on their approach shots, but it would be Tucker with the advantage after sticking his chip shot to less than a foot, leaving a tap in par for the win.
