With April here, that means quite a few things for the SCGA/SCJGA. First of all we just finished conducting our Pee Wee Championship, Can-Am Matches, Caddie Classic and the Fox Run One Day Tournament. But that is just the start.
Yesterday at Lexington CC we had S.N.A.G. (Starting New At Golf) training, and I will be the first to tell you that this is truly a great way to introduce kids to golf. I wanted to take a set home and get my 5 year old on it that day, but the weather didn’t want us to. Next comes our annual SCJGF Golf Ball fundraiser on Thursday of the Masters at the State Fairgrounds in Columbia. If you have never been, please come and join us. Contact Joe Quick or Jordan Bennett in our office for tickets. 803-732-7311
We wrap up the Golf Ball on Friday with clean up and errands, then it is off to Myrtle Beach on Saturday for the Monday after the Masters. We help set up all the sponsor signs, are in charge of the carts that the workers use, make sure people have tickets to get on the bus, organize our caddies for the event and whatever else that needs to be done. On Tuesday we are in charge of taking down about everything, signs, ropes and stakes and even the big scorebaord you see at the clubhouse.
Then it is off to the Heritage again as we conduct the Coca Cola putting clinic on Weds. and man a information/hospitality booth on 18 tee the rest of the week. I almost forgot about Demo Day this Saturday at Par Tee Driving Range in West Columbia. We are hosting a Clubs 4 Kids from 10-2, so if you know a youngster that has interest in golf, send them our way!
