Trevor Phillips came within inches of tying his tournament record of a two day total of 64. An eight foot birdie opportunity on his last hole just slid by that would have gave him a 31 and matched his career low. The Inman native fished the event as the only player under par and won by an impressive seven shots. Morgan Cox also held on to her overnight lead as 3 bogies were the only blemishes on her round today. She would claim a one shot victory over Spartanburg’s Natalie Srinivasan. The boys 8-9 bracket was even more exciting as extra holes were needed after Anthony Sutton and Dillon Hite tied at 73. Sutton birdied the second hole to claim the victory over his good friend. Jalen Castle captured her first SCJGA title with an impressive 14 shot margin of victory in the girls 8-9 bracket.
For 13 years, junior golfers have come to Greenwood in hopes of capturing their first major title in the SCJGA Pee Wee Championship. The 2011 field is comprised of 55 juniors from all across SC competing in four different age groups ages 8-12. The membership of Greenwood Country Club has hosted the event since inception and is presented by the SC Junior Golf Foundation.
