2012 Pro Junior

After 18 holes of play, Spring Valley CC, Summerville CC, and Columbia CC were all tied at 14 under par 58. The first hole of sudden death had Summerville CC as the only team to make birdie and take the 2012 Championship. William Harwood representing Spring Valley CC had the rarest of shots on hole number 7. The first hole the team played was the 142 yard seventh, Harwood knocked in a seven  iron for the ace. Of special note, Bray Blanton (Summerville Country Club) first played in the event as a 12 year old. He followed up by playing in each of the older brackets as a junior golfer and now is the PGA Professional of the team that won this year. He is the only player in the history of the event to play in all four categories of team membership.

Teams are comprised of PGA Professionals that are members of the South Carolina Chapter of the PGA and three of their junior members. The foursomes had three age brackets represented on their talented teams. Juniors age 15-18, 13-14, and 10-12 partnered with their professional in this one day event. Tom Mason; SCPGA President, and the rest of the SCPGA board should be commended on their support of this event and junior golf initiatives in SC. The tournament was hosted by the membership of Woodlands Country Club in Columbia. As a special gift to all of the players, Chris Sitco with AHEAD donated PGA Championship hats from the 2012 championship to each of the players.
