JD Lehman(Beaufort) and Bryson Nimmer (Bluffton) took the 18th playing of the Tradition Four Ball after they shot a consecutive 66 to take the title by four shots . Defending champs Carson Young and Austin Langdale each had nines of 32 to shot a team score of 64 to close within four. Alex Handy and Ryan Carpenter also finished tied for second at six under par for the tournament.
Columbia’s Ryan Marter and Jack Parrott took the competitive boys 13-14 bracket after there two day total of 146 was one shot good enough to win.
Sydney Legacy (Lexington) and Taylor Ann Dodson (Aiken) needed extra holes to determine the girls champions with Kelsey Badmaev (Blythewood) and Eden Howard (Hartsville). Legacy and Dodson fired an even par round today to tie the Badmeav and Howard squad that fired three birdies on the day. A solid par on the first hole gave Legacy and Dodson their first team title.
The event also had a team outfit competition to coincide with the weekend’s festivities. Starting several ago, teams starting to show up in matching outfits to bolster team spirit. Pictures of the teams were posted on the SCJGA’s Facebook and the team of Elliott Mills and Lilly Turner garnered the most likes to win the best dressed title.
The Tradition Four Ball dates back to 1995 and players such as Lucas Glover, Bill Haas, DJ Trahan, and Kyle Thompson have all been part of this must play championship. Glover actually won the inaugural event with Jeremy Revis as a partner. Tournament Chair, Rick Vieth, has built a great event over the past 18 years thanks to the many volunteers and the membership of Pebble Creek. Bill Knupp and his company BB&T Barnes Insurance is back again as the title sponsor and the event would not be a success without their vital involvement. They have been one of the SCJGA’s longest running sponsors, many thanks go out to the entire organization.
