Will Starke captured the 18th Caddie Classic after a round of 67 over the par 70 track of Camden Country Club. Blustery conditions made scoring tough for the 78 competitors and the combination of the small Donald Ross Greens kept scores high for the majority of the field. Sydney Legacy won the overall girls action with a superb 71 that included three birdies on her back nine. The boys 13-14 bracket played the same set of tees as the older players and in the division, a sudden death victory by Alex Handy gave him the first place trophy. The girls 13-14 has Kelli Murphy adding to her impressive list of SCJGA victories while also playing the same set of tees as the older girls. The tournament has been proudly presented by the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association for the past five years and is also a vital part of the SC junior Golf Foundation’s Golf Week celebration.
Boys and girls competed for the coveted positions and will get to choose their “team” based on their stroke play finish. The players will have the opportunity to get close to today’s celebrities, professional athletes, and stars of the PGA Tour. In 17 years, the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Pro-Am has raised over 5 million dollars for charity revolving around children specific causes.
