2011 Beth Daniel Junior Azalea

Andrew Novak wins his 2011 Beth Daniel Junior Azalea title after posting a two day total of 135. Novak from Mount Pleasant fired a second round six under par 65 to go along with his one under par round of 70 from day one. First round leader Jeremy Grab of Daniel Island had to wait an hour before hitting his final tee shot  on 18, knowing he had to birdie his final hole to tie for the lead and force a play off. It would be Novak’s day to win, two stokes ahead of Grab.

Jessica Hoang started her round with a five under par 31 on the front nine en route to her 2011 Beth Daniel Junior Azalea title. Hoang form North Augusta started her round tied with Lexington’s Lauren Stephenson, but Jessica had it on cruise control after her opening nine with only a lone bogey on the back nine. A lightning delay stopped play with two holes left for the girls to play. Her 137 total had her five shots clear of Morgan Webber after she finished at even par 142.

Beth has been a long time friend of the SCJGA and junior golf. The Beth Daniel Player of the Year award goes annually to the top female golfer in SC based on the Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings. She has also been involved with the LPGA – USGA Link Girls to Golf Program and several other junior golf specific programs. She has won 33 times on tour, been on the Solheim Cup Team nine times, elected to the LPGA Hall of Fame in 1999, and elected to the World Golf Hall Of Fame in 2000. The Charleston native was also the 2009 USA Solheim Cup Captain and former SCJGA Player of the Year, Kristi McPherson, was on that team.
