Columbia – Nineteen teams of PGA Professional paired with their junior members conveyed on Woodlands Country Club for the 16th playing of the SCPGA-SCJGA Pro Junior. The team from the Country Club of Spartanburg won by 2 shots after shooting an impressive 18 under par 54. It must be noted that the team played so well that TJ Walsh, the Head Professional, only had to putt twice in the four person captain’s choice. Ronnie Funk, Anne Taylor Hough, and Matt Teaster provided the skills to take some pressure off of their professional. Thornblade Club was headed by PGA Professional Adam Pritchard and they fired 56 to take solo second in the annual event. Teams are comprised of PGA Professionals that are members of the South Carolina Chapter of the PGA and three of their junior members. The foursomes had three age brackets represented on their talented teams. Juniors age 15-18, 13-14, and 10-12 partnered with their professional in this one day event. Clem King, Tom Mason and the rest of the SCPGA board should be commended on their support of this event and junior golf initiatives in SC. The tournament was hosted by the membership of Woodlands Country Club in Columbia.
