In the boys 13-18 division, Jack Seward of Florence fought his way to the top of the leaderboard carding a second-round score of two-under par 68. He had five birdies and an eagle today to hold a two-shot lead heading into the final round tomorrow. Overall, he is four-under par 136 for the tournament.
John Wylie Richardson of Florence and Jack Crousore of Bluffton each finished the second round with an overall score of two-under par 138 to sit T2.
Defending champion, Jay Smith of Florence, Bennett Scaletta of Belton and Thomas Lamar of Columbia sit T4, each carding overall scores of one-under par 139.
In the boys 13-18 division, the cut line fell at 12-over with 72 players advancing to the final round.
In the boys 12 and under division, Connor Wolfe of Blythewood remains at the top of the leaderboard, finishing the day at two-under par 34 after nine-holes. Overall, he is six-under par 65 for the tournament and holds a three-shot lead heading into the final round tomorrow.
Woods Weston of Columbia climbed the boys 12 and under leaderboard, posting a second-round score of two-under par 34 after nine-holes to hold the second-place position. Overall, he is three-under par 68 for the tournament.
The final round of the 72nd Grant Bennett Florence Junior Invitational begins tomorrow at 8:00 A.M. off #1.
About the Grant Bennett Florence Junior Invitational
The Grant Bennett Florence Junior Invitational is the longest running junior golf tournament in South Carolina. Formerly known as the Florence Junior, the tournament was renamed after the famed Grant Bennett back in 2013. Bennett started the Florence Junior in 1952 after his inaugural year as both Head Professional and Course Superintendent in 1951. Bennett coached his high school golf teams to 11 straight state titles, had one of his pupils win the US Junior Championship (Buddy Baker), helped host the 1963 US Junior Championship at Florence Country Club, was co-founder of the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association and was a member of multiple Hall's of Fame.
