CHARLESTON, SC (Aug. 7, 2023) – The South Carolina Junior Golf Association will conduct the 16th Beth Daniel Junior Azalea at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, SC, August 8-10, 2023.

This year marks the 16th playing of the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea, hosted by the Country Club of Charleston. The Beth Daniel Junior Azalea was first played in 2008 with Caleb Sturgeon of Laurens, South Carolina and McKenzie Talbert of North Augusta, South Carolina claiming the inaugural title. Mason Kucia of Indian land, South Carolina won the boys division title in 2022 with a score of 204 (-9) and Elizabeth Rudisill of Charlotte, North Carolina finished the tournament with a score of 209 (-7) to take home the 2022 girls division title. Kucia and Rudisill will each return this year to defend their title.
The 2023 Beth Daniel Junior Azalea field is comprised of 84 of the
country’s top male and female junior golfers.
16th Beth Daniel Junior Azalea Format
Boys 13-18 Division
- 54 holes of individual stroke play.
- The field will be cut to the low 27 and ties after 36 holes.
- The lowest score for 54 holes will determine the boys 13-18 division champion.
Girls 13-18 Division
- 54 holes of individual stroke play.
- The field will be cut to the low 15 and ties after 36 holes.
- The lowest score for 54 holes will determine the girls 13-18 division champion.
The first round of the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea begins Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 9:00 A.M. off #1 and #10.
About The Beth Daniel Junior Azalea
The Beth Daniel Junior Azalea is named after World Golf Hall of Fame Member and Charleston native, Beth Daniel. Daniel finished her playing career with 41 professional victories including the 1990 Women’s PGA Championship. Beth’s impressive career and desire to grow the game of golf has led to South Carolina’s highest-ranked female junior golfer being presented with the Beth Daniel Player of the Year award each December.
