ANDERSON, SC (Oct. 15, 2023) – Final round results of the 3rd Annual Jackie Seawell Junior Championship hosted by Cobb's Glen Country Club in Anderson, SC on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

Tied for the lead entering the final round, Will Miller of Spartanburg carded a final round score of even-par 36 to finish with an overall total of two-over par 74 and take the title in the boys 10-12 division.
Moses Zikusooka of Duncan claimed runner-up in this division, finishing at four-over par 76 overall. Zikusooka shot even-par 36 in his final round.
Elin Sarstrand of Spartanburg finished the tournament at 10-over par 82 to be crowned champion of the girls 10-12 division. Starting the day tied for the lead, Sarstrand posted a final round 39 to claim the victory.
Maya Sarstrand of Spartanburg finished the day at four-over par 40 to take second place in this division. Overall, she posted 13-over par 85 for the tournament.
Entering the day with a two-shot lead, Mia Carles of Clinton posted a final round of five-over par 77 to claim the first-place title in the girls 13-15 division. Overall, she finished the tournament at nine-over par 153.
Posting an overall score of 14-over par 158, Karsyn Herron of Graniteville took second place in this division and finished the final round at eight over par 80.
In the boys 13-15 division, Bennett Scaletta of Belton posted even-par 72 in his final round. He finished the event at two-under par 142 to claim victory in this division. He had four total birdies in his final round today.
Dawson Szabo of Greer was named runner-up in this division, posting an overall score of one-under par 143 and a final round score of two-under par 70.
Casey Kosney of Spartanburg fired an impressive final round score of four-under par 68 to take the boys 16-18 division. Kosney finished the tournament at four-under par 140 and had six total birdies today.
Jackson Scaletta of Belton finished runner-up in the boys 16-18 division shooting three-under par 141 overall for the tournament.
About Jackie Seawell
The Jackie Seawell Junior was created after Mr. Seawell's passing on June 14, 2021, to honor him and his contributions to golf in Anderson, Aiken, and the state of South Carolina.The SCJGA is honored to be able to help administer a tournament named after one of our state’s great golf ambassadors.
Jackie Seawell, a native of Anderson, was the first golf professional at Cobb's Glen Country Club in Anderson. During his long and successful career, he had a major and lasting impact on junior golf in Anderson and the state of South Carolina. He was dedicated to the game of golf and had a true passion for teaching and growing the game.
Mr. Seawell attended Anderson Boys' High School and graduated from the University of South Carolina. At Boys' High, he served as student body president and was MVP of the football and golf teams. He was a member of the Boys' High 1959 state championship team. At the University of South Carolina, he was a four-year letterman and captain of the golf team. He won the 1964 South Carolina Intercollegiate individual title and led the Gamecocks to the 1964 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.
After leaving Anderson, Mr. Seawell was the golf professional at Woodside Plantation in Aiken, director of golf at Sage Valley in Aiken and then became of the owner of Houndslake Country Club in Aiken.
Mr. Seawell received numerous awards and recognitions during his career. He was a member of the T.L. Hanna Athletics Hall of Fame, received the Thomas Hitchcock and William C. Whitney Palmetto Golf Club Award, the Golf Week Father of the Year Award, the University of South Carolina Department of Athletics Extraordinary Contributions Award and was honorary captain of the South Carolina PGA Palmetto Cup team. In 1998, Mr. Seawell was inducted into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame in recognition of his service to golf, the thousands of lives he impacted and his many accomplishments.

The purpose of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association is to continue the history and traditions of the ancient game of golf through its members and an active outreach to the youth of our state. Established in 1990 by community leaders with a love for the game and a commitment to passing on golf’s heritage to the youth of South Carolina, the SCJGA is committed to meeting the needs of all young people in the state and providing playing opportunities to boys and girls that might not otherwise have the chance to experience golf and its many benefits.
