Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Junior Golf Association (SCJGA) is excited to announce significant updates to the Players Series and the introduction of a new One-Day Series, designed to expand opportunities for junior golfers across South Carolina. These changes aim to provide more accessibility and competition for young golfers of varying experience levels, in line with SCJGA's mission to "grow the game" by providing meaningful opportunities to play. 

Summary of Changes to Players Series and New One-Day Series: 

Players Series Updates: 

  • Players Series Eligibility: Priority will be given to players ranked 50 and above. Entry will be based on Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings. Players ranked 1-49 are ineligible for Players Series events. 
  • Girls Eligibility: No changes have been made to the current eligibility requirements for girls. 
  • The Players Series will no longer follow a "double par pickup" format. 
  • Winning a Players Series event no longer guarantees exemption into all future Players Series events. 
  • Player of the Year Exemption: The Players Series Player of the Year remains exempt into a list of SCJGA Major Championships (to be determined the following year). 

*Exemptions & Priority Adjustments: The priority exemption criteria for Players Series entry is subject to periodic review and changes. 

One-Day Series Highlights: 

  • One-Day Series Format: The One-Day Series will feature single-day, eighteen-hole competitions designed for junior golfers, both boys and girls, across South Carolina. These events provide aspiring young players with the opportunity to compete in a structured, challenging environment as they develop their skills, deepen their passion for the game, and gain valuable competitive experience. 

 

  • Age-Specific Entry: The One-Day Series is open to players in a 12 & under division and for ages 13-18 who are ranked 126 and above. 

 

  • Points for One-Day Series: Participants in the One-Day Series events will now be eligible to earn points toward their HCF (Heritage Classic Foundation) standings. 

 

  • 12 and Under Recognition: The One-Day Series will feature a Player of the Year award specifically for the 12 and under age group. This Player of the Year will earn exemptions into certain SCJGA Major Championships (to be determined the following year).
