December 11, 2024 – On the beautiful Colleton River Club's Borland Par 3 course in Bluffton, SC, on December 20th, the highly anticipated Champions for Charity event will bring together tournament champions for a thrilling competition with a greater purpose. Organized by the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation (SCJGF), this exciting event will directly support Youth on Course Carolinas, a transformative initiative that provides young golfers with access to $5 rounds of golf, breaking down barriers to participation.
Why It Matters:
Golf provides young players with critical life lessons in perseverance, discipline, and integrity. However, the cost of playing can prevent many juniors from experiencing the sport. Youth on Course Carolinas removes these financial barriers, allowing kids to play and learn at an affordable rate. By participating in Champions for Charity, donors are investing in the next generation of golfers, giving them opportunities to grow through the game and develop skills that last a lifetime.
How the Competition Works:
The action will take place on the Colleton River Club's Borland Par 3 course. Teams of three champions will race against the clock to complete as many holes as possible in just two hours. The goal? To finish with the most birdies. This fast-paced and competitive format adds a layer of excitement for both participants and donors, making for an unforgettable day of golf.
Meet the Teams of Tournament Champions:
Team Ace includes Sam Jackson, a three-time SCGA Player of the Year and SCJGA alumnus; Jack Crousore, an SCJGA alumnus and current freshman on the University of Minnesota golf team; and Max Green, an SCJGA alumnus and senior golfer at West Virginia University.
Team Spin features Claire Green, a current SCJGA junior golfer, and Clemson Women’s Golf Team commit and Katie Ireland, SCJGA alumnus and the current Colleton River Women’s Club Champion.
Team Grooves is made up of Alex Hamilton, an SCJGA alumnus and SCJGF Senior Director; Cody Proveaux, an SCJGA alumnus and current SCJGA Director of Players Series and One-Days; and Drew Crousore, host of the day’s matches.
Each team comprises accomplished champions, showcasing their talent, camaraderie, and dedication to giving back to the game that shaped them.
How You Can Join the Action:
Supporters are invited to donate directly to their favorite team, cheering them on as they compete for birdies and bragging rights. Birdie counts and updates will be shared live on SCJGF’s social media channels, making donors part of the excitement while making a meaningful impact on junior golf.
Your Donation Makes a Difference:
Every contribution directly benefits Youth on Course Carolinas, helping juniors gain affordable access to golf and its opportunities. By supporting Champions for Charity, you’re not just backing a team—you’re investing in the future of the sport and the young players who will carry it forward.
