Hilton Head Island, S.C. – The second round of the Jimmy Self Invitational Presented by Greenwood Communities and Resorts would again bring scorching temperatures. Juniors from four states are represented in the 2020 field, each bringing elite status to the now three day event.

Beginning the day trailing first round leader Hannah Altman (Lake City), it would not take long for local standout Camila Burnett (Bluffton) to surge to the top of the leaderboard. Remaining consistent throughout her round, Burnett would credit her short game that aided her rise to the top. She will take a two-shot lead in the final round over reigning champion Buggy Reinke who carded birdies on her final two holes to post a 2-over par (74). Altman struggled driving the ball in play in round two but still managed to remain in the top-3 and secure a spot in the final group shooting a 6-over par (78).

The Boys Division would also see a new leader after round two as Oliver Rotermund of Daniel Island fired a -2 under par (70) to take a one-shot lead into the final round. Rotermund would get off to a slow start on the front nine but got hot on the back nine carding four birdies. First round leader Major Lenning (Simpsonville) currently sits at one under par for the tournament after a second round 4-over par (76). Lenning will join Rotermund in the final pairing along with Lucas Acevedo (Daniel Island) who carded a 3-over par (75).

The final round of the Jimmy Self Invitational will begin at 8am with players teeing off #1 tee. Follow live scoring here or on all South Carolina Junior Golf Association (SCJGA) social media channels.

The Jimmy Self Invitational is a junior specific tournament designed to showcase great players across the US. The Invitational is named for Jimmy Self, former Chairman-of-the-Board for Greenwood Mills, who died in 1995. Mr. Self served as captain of the golf team at Clemson in 1964 & 65, was on the South Carolina Golf Association Board from 1969-71 and was generous to the game of golf in the years that followed. The parties involved felt this tournament would be a great tribute to the man that gave so much to golf. First beginning as a high school team event, moving to an individual event in 2004. The presenting sponsor, Greenwood Communities and Resorts, owned and operated by the Self family has steadily, smartly, and impressively built a family of resort, residential and commercial communities in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida.
