Isle of Palms, SC— Contrary to Saturday’s captain’s choice tournament where birdies were bountiful, pars were a premium in Sunday’s junior stroke play portion of the Ford-Picard Christmas Classic at the scenic Wild Dunes Links Course. Nick Ceva (Mount Pleasant) emerged victorious in the Boys 13-18 age group following a playoff with Zachary Reuland (Rock Hill) after both competitors posted the lowest score of the day, a 2-over par 72. Drew Harrill (Spartanburg) and Luke Walmet (Mount Pleasant) tied for third place one shot away from the playoff. Ceva posted pars on his last five holes in regulation, and continued his par streak on the first two playoff holes, which was good enough for him to claim the title.

Taking the title in the Girls 13-18 division was Daniel Island’s Raegan Propes. Propes rebounded from a tough start on the front nine, posting a 10-over par 80, which was good enough for a four-shot victory. Round out the top three were Clair Lewis (Greenwood) with an 84 to take the runner-up spot and Hannah Altman took third place with an 85.   In the Boys 10-12 division, Blake Bocelli (Mount Pleasant) would find the winner’s circle with an 8-over 42 on the Links Course’s tricky back nine. Bocelli clipped AJ Dietrich (Mount Pleasant) and Benjamin Sanders (Taylors) by one shot for his first top finish in a SCJGA Championship.
The Ford-Picard Christmas Classic completed it’s 26th year of the event, providing a weekend of fun and excitement for all. Special thanks to Wild Dunes Resort and the Links Course for their continued support of the event each year. All tournament information, including and results can be found on the SCJGA homepage.
