DARLINGTON, S.C.– Warm temperatures and blue skies greeted players for the Spring Break One Day at Darlington Country Club. Originally scheduled for President’s Day, this tournament was pushed into April due to heavy rains and flooded conditions.
Columbia’s Caroline Hawkins brought home her first SCJGA One-Day title as a 13-year old by posting a score of two-over par (74). The 2026 graduate brought home the title by two shots over runner-up Akiera Sanchez (Goose Creek). Rounding out the top-three finishers was Conway’s Lora Ledbetter (Conway), who carded a six-over par round of 78.
The Boys 13-18 division was tightly contested from the start, with the entire top-10 finishing within three shots of the lead. David Ross (Spartanburg) and Anthony Martino (Summerville) each finished their rounds at two-over par (74), with Ross being the victor in a scorecard playoff as a result of his back nine score. Ross and Martino will each receive first-place ranking points for this event in the Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings. Davis Neal (North Augusta) and Chuck Stanley (Warrenville) each tied for third place, just one stroke behind the leaders, with rounds of 75.
Owen Atkinson (Columbia) captured the Boys 12 & Under division following a two-hole playoff with fellow Columbia native Thomas Sabalis. Both players finished their rounds at four-over par (40) on Darlington Country Club’s front nine.
The Girls 12 & Under title was taken by Kinley Brazell (Blythewood), who carded a score of nine-over par (45). Aynor’s Gracyn Cox finished runner-up with a score of 24-over par (60).
The SCJGA would like to extend a special thanks to Darlington Country Club for their hospitality and effort in hosting the Spring Break One Day.
