Hartsville, S.C. – The best junior golfers in the state of South Carolina will descend upon Hartsville Country Club for the SCJGA’s 24th Annual Players Championship on November 21-22. The city of Hartsville and the infamous “French Fry Guys” have contributed to the Players Championship becoming one of the most well-known events in South Carolina junior golf.
108 of the brightest young stars in the game will compete for the title in their respective age divisions, with some players having more than a single trophy at stake. With the SCJGA’s Beth Daniel and Jay Haas Players of the Year being determined by the December update of the Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings, plenty of highly-ranked players will be competing for that honor as well as the title of Players Champion this weekend.
On the Girls side of the competition, Adrian Anderson (Murrells Inlet) headlines a list of formidable contenders for the championship. With Anderson currently residing at the top spot, she is closely followed by defending Players Champion Molly Hardwick (Lexington), Beth Daniel Junior Azalea Champion Isabella Rawl (Lexington), 2019 Beth Daniel Player of the Year Mary Kathryn Talledo (Spartanburg), and CGA Jimmy Anderson Champion Sydney Roberts (Chesnee).
In the Boys division, nine of the top-ten ranked players will be competing in the Players Championship. Notables in the field include currently top-ranked Zach Adams (Charleston), who has played consistently fantastic golf in 2020 to rise to the top of the Heritage Classic Foundation Rankings. Directly behind Adams currently sits Max Green (Hilton Head), who just captured runner-up honors at The Elite Junior Invitational last weekend. Jerry Bruns (Beaufort), 2019 Player of the Year Gene Zeigler (Florence), 2020 SCGA Junior Champion Trey Crenshaw (Lancaster), and Carolinas PGA Junior Champion Griffin Tarver (Tega Cay) also come into the Players Championship within shouting distance of the top spot in the rankings.
Hosting the 24th playing of the event, the SCJGA extends a special thanks to the City of Hartsville and Darlington County for their continued support of the Players Championship at Harstville Country Club. Round one tee times will begin at 8am on Saturday off holes 1 and 10 tee.
