Hampton Roberts of Cary, NC holds an impressive five-shot lead after round two. He posted five-under par 66 today and stands at 11-under par 131 overall.
“I hit it really well off the tee again,” said Roberts. “I had a few bad ones but was mainly all in play. I think what separated me was my wedges were really good. I hit quite a few inside about three or four feet and was able to make some birdies that way. I’m just going to put my foot on the gas, stick to my plan and try to make as many birdies as possible tomorrow.”
Walker Jennings of Greenville, SC finished the day at six-under par 136 overall to sit solo second. He had three birdies and an eagle, posting four-under par 67 for round two.
“I started the day off good with an eagle on my first hole,” Jennings said. “I played steady from there on in, took advantage of the par-fives and overall had a solid day. I’m just going to stick to the same game plan tomorrow. These greens are tricky, and the pins are tough, so you have to play smart even with a wedge in your hand. The par-fives are scoreable, so I need to make birdies on those holes and just play smart and controlled the rest of the way.”
Luke Coyle of Campbellsville, KY, Trey Marrion of Chesapeake, VA and Caleb Surratt of Indian Trail, NC sit tied for third, each finishing the day at five-under par 137 overall.
The final round begins on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at 9:00 A.M. off #1 and #10.
