“I was bogey free today so that’s always nice,” Fulmer said. “I didn’t hit every green, but when I missed it, I made every par putt so that was good. I’m just going to get a good night sleep tonight and hopefully come out tomorrow and do the same thing.”
Major Lenning of Simpsonville stands second, carding three-under 69 for the day. Overall, he is one-under 143 for the tournament.
Caroline Hawkins of Columbia and Anne Fernandez of Bluffton emerged round two co-leaders of the girls 13-18 division, each posting four-over 148 after two rounds.
“Today, I chipped a lot better than yesterday,” Hawkins said. “My course management was a lot better than yesterday and I’m really happy with my round. I’m pumped going into tomorrow, I’m just going to go out and play my game and hope for the best.”
“I started off really good today,” said Fernandez. “I was three under through my front nine and then unfortunately on ten I hit two out of bounds. But I managed to come back and make a couple of good pars. I plan to just keep it smooth and easy tomorrow. I’m going to take my time and just try and make as many birdies as I can.”

Named in honor of a man who gave so much to golf, the Jimmy Self Invitational has become one of the top high school tournaments in South Carolina and has hosted some of the top junior players in the southeast. The 54-hole event has been presented by Greenwood Development since its inception. The original idea was to rotate the tournament’s location between Greenwood Development properties in Charleston, Greenwood and Hilton Head Island. Now, the tournament permanently resides at the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes. This year’s competition at Palmetto Dunes continues the Jimmy Self Invitational’s legacy, adding to South Carolina’s rich history of amateur and junior golf.
