The SCGA, SCJGA and SCJGF gear up to hike 100 holes for Youth on Course for the second time
IRMO, SC (Sept. 14, 2021) – The South Carolina Golf Association, South Carolina Junior Golf Association and South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation team will be participating in the “100 Hole Hike” to raise money and awareness for Youth on Course Carolinas on October 13, 2021, at The Plantation Course at Edisto. To contribute to the growth of the game in the Carolinas, the SCGA, SCJGA and SCJGF staff will walk and play 100 holes of golf. Every dollar donated goes toward supporting junior golf and Youth on Course Carolinas. A donation of just $100 will ensure that 20 youth golfers will get the chance to play a round of golf in 2021 and beyond.

“When I accepted the challenge and participated in the 100 Hole Hike back in 2019 it was a blast,” says Justin Fleming, Senior Director of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. “Not only did it challenge me physically, but also challenged me to personally go out and raise money. Fundraising prior to the hike, as well as the hike itself pushed me to better understand why donating to junior golf is important to me. This game helped me cope with my parents’ divorce, pay for my college education, create numerous lifelong relationships, and led me into a career I don’t deserve. I think I’m living proof on why raising money to help youth gain access to a golf course and play the game that changed my life is a wonderful cause!”

The South Carolina Golf Association has a goal to raise $10,000 and we need your help to make an impact!

This year alone, Youth on Course (YOC) Carolinas has provided 10,000 rounds of golf to youth in the Carolinas. The core purpose of Youth on Course is to provide life-changing opportunities through golf. Since 2006, more than 900,000 rounds have been played by Youth on Course members and awarded more than $1.73 million in college scholarships.

“We are very lucky to be a part of the YOC Carolinas program,” said Biff Lathrop, Executive Director of the South Carolina Golf Association. “Along with our allied Associations, the CGA, CPGA and the WSCGA, we are all working together to provide more opportunities in golf for as many as possible. The 100 Hole Hike is a great occasion for our staff to come together, raise some charitable dollars for YOC and continue to grow the game of golf in the Carolinas.”

The SCGA, SCJGA and SCJGF is committed to growing the game of golf in the Carolinas and excited to participate in the YOC 100 Hole Hike. We are grateful to The Plantation Course at Edisto for graciously hosting us again this year and looking forward to raising money and playing golf in effort to provide youth an opportunity to play golf!
